EDEKA Schröder in Preetz: Optimised service and smarter processes with ReAct Now

The ReAct Now communication solution was implemented at EDEKA Schröder in Preetz at the beginning of February 2025 as part of the refurbishment. In addition to the integration on PDT devices, a checkout area management system, customer service bells, the link-up of reverse vending machines and a sound solution were installed – for more efficient processes and an improved shopping experience.

EDEKA Schröder in Preetz was equipped with an advanced digital infrastructure at the beginning of February 2025 following extensive modernisation. The aim of the measures was to make internal processes more efficient and further improve the service for customers.

A central component of the innovations is the ReAct Now communication solution, which was integrated directly into the supermarket’s existing PDT devices. This enables employees to control internal tasks and communication processes directly via the devices in addition to traditional tasks such as stock control and warehouse management – without additional hardware.

To improve customer service, service bells were installed at key stations in the supermarket. These enable customers to receive quick assistance from an employee if required. In addition, a checkout area management system ensures optimised control of customer flows at the checkouts, reducing waiting times.

The reverse vending machines for empties have also been integrated into the digital platform. The system automatically notifies employees as soon as emptying is required, even before the machines reach their capacity limit. This avoids interruptions and ensures a consistently smooth return process.

To create a pleasant shopping atmosphere, a sound solution was also installed that provides the entire supermarket with harmonious background music. The discreet background music reduces disturbing noises, contributes to the customers’ well-being and creates a pleasant shopping atmosphere.

With its comprehensive modernisation, EDEKA Schröder is demonstrating how digital technologies – above all ReAct Now – can improve customer service and make internal processes more efficient.
